Brand Guidelines for Grantees

These guidelines set out the rules for use of Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies name and/or logo by grantees of the entities which make up Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies.

Introduction

Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies does not seek publicity or fanfare from its grant making or philanthropic activities but recognises that many grantees may wish or be required to recognise the grant from Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies. Ultimately, Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies wants the grantee charity to be recognised for the good work they are doing.

When acknowledging a Grant from Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies kindly follow these guidelines:
  • use the name “Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies”
  • sentences should preferably not lead with Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies’ name:
    Incorrect: Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies has given a grant to ABC University for an entrepreneurship development program.
    Correct: ABC University received a grant for entrepreneurship development from Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies.
  • use of the logo must adhere to the guidelines set out under “How to use Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies logo” below.
Written approval must be requested from [email protected] and provided before:
  • using Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies’ name in press releases, public announcements, case studies and any form of paid advertising or media
  • using written content, photography or videos owned by Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies, regardless of the source of such content
  • using a description of the funded project or event if the grant is for a specific purpose
  • crediting Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies in a publication funded by Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies. If approval is granted, the following disclaimer wording should be used, “This [publication/report] is based on research funded by (or in part by) Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies. The findings and conclusions contained within are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect positions or policies of Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies.”
  • using the name and/or logo of Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies in association with any other trademarks. The name and/or logo of Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies may not be used in a manner that suggests co-branding or creates an association of partnership or support that can be confusing or is not in the spirit of the grant agreement. This includes using the name and/or logo for commercial purposes or creating the impression that Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies endorses you, your activities or services.
How to use Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies logo

Should you wish to use Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies logo, please request a copy of the relevant logo file from [email protected]. In your email, please let us know where and how you plan to use the logo, and, if possible, share any relevant materials where the logo may appear.

Our logo must not be recreated and must remain intact and printed or published in accordance with the Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies Logo Usage Guide, which is available here. Any use of the Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies logo should be tasteful and legible in appearance and generally should be equal in size and profile to those of other funders.

By using the Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies logo, you agree to the terms of these Brand Guidelines for Grantees.
